Residents recently joined Bishan-Toa Payoh Town Council on a Community Improvement Walk to learn more about the upcoming Silver Upgrading Programme (SUP), a major initiative that aims to make our neighbourhoods safer, more accessible, and even more age-friendly. Works are targeted to begin in 2027.
As the walk progressed through the estate, residents got a closer look at the proposed improvements and heard how the programme is designed to support seniors in ageing well while enhancing the living environment for everyone. Planned upgrades include barrier-free access improvements, enhanced accessibility features, refreshed communal spaces, and other estate enhancements that will make daily life more convenient and comfortable for residents of all ages.
The session was also a valuable opportunity for residents to share their thoughts and ideas. Representatives from Bishan-Toa Payoh Town Council, HDB and grassroots organisations spoke with residents, answered questions, and gathered feedback on the proposed plans. The open conversations helped residents better understand the upcoming improvements while allowing the project team to hear directly from the community.
More importantly, the Community Improvement Walk reflected the Town Council's commitment to engaging residents every step of the way. By working closely together and listening to the community's needs, Bishan-Toa Payoh Town Council hopes to shape neighbourhoods that are more inclusive, liveable and enjoyable for all generations.
